As Chief Executive Officer, Dan is responsible for directing the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring adherence to the organization’s thematic goals and business plan, and maintaining a solid commitment to Bouma’s Guiding Principles. Dan sits on the board of directors and management team. He provides tactical and strategic direction for business operations, financial management, business development, and growth. Dan also provides visionary and strategic leadership for the staff in many areas including the establishment of goals and objectives and individual and team incentives. Dan also assists in maintaining long-term relationships with customers, vendors, financial institutions, and surety. 

Dan joined Bouma in 1994, at a time when the Company was preparing for significant expansion both in construction services offered and geographical footprint. He served as Chief Financial Officer from 1995 to 2011 and successfully led the Company through the challenges of the last economic recession. In 2011 he was promoted to President and became a significant member of the ownership group in 2012. Dan has a strong background in management and finance. He has been pivotal in securing the right talent to build the Bouma team for the future as the business evolves and adapts to changes in the marketplace and industry. Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University and was designated a Certified Public Accountant in 1981.
